House Hunt: July 29th Edition

Check out some of these more affordable homes, all under $300,000!

When it comes to choosing a new home, the two biggest factors are often size and location.

Potential buyers have plenty of living styles to choose from, such as condominiums, townhouses and single family homes, and all have advantages and disadvantages.

While a house may have more upkeep, a condo might have a larger Home Owners Association (HOA) fee—a modern day reality that's hard to escape.  In today's market, there may be some older homes not in a HOA, but most newer homes are, hence, the fees.

Shoppers should be sure and check all the possible fees, charges and interest before buying a home, so they can estimate the total monthly payment. Realtors and lenders will be able to help calculate this figure.

This week, we’re taking a look at some homes in the lower price ranges, all of which were found through AOL Real Estate online.

Because one of the most frustrating parts of looking for a new home is chasing one that turns out to be unavailable, Patch’s House Hunt only lists the latest active listings.  As some real estate terms are often confusing or misleading, check out our terms of the week to help clarify terms used in ads, when speaking with your real estate agent or banker.

Condominiums: Housing tenure (real property) where specified parts of a complex of dwelling units are owned by an individual, while the rest, such as stairs, hallways and common areas are jointly owned and controlled by an association.

Townhouse: Townhouses are small houses, that are connected in a row. Townhouse ownership includes individual ownership of the surounding land, which is what makes it different from a condominium.
