Manassas Park Resident Named Manassas Electric Director
Eighteen-year utilities industry veteran and Manassas Park resident Tarek Aly has been named the new director of electric in the city of Manassas.

Eighteen-year utilities industry veteran and Manassas Park resident Tarek Aly has been named the new director of electric in the city of Manassas.
He replaces former Deputy Director of Electric, Gregg Paulson.
Aly has worked for the Manassas public works/utilities department for nine years and helps to ensure a safe work environment for field employees, produce reliable electric systems and provide feasible rates for customers, among other things, city officials said in a press release.

“Tarek has shown great leadership and skill in helping direct the electrical operations for the city,” Mike Moon, director of public works and utilities for the City of Manassas, said “We’re thrilled to have him on board as the new deputy director."
Aly studied Electric Substation Design Fundamentals at the University of Wisconsin and received training at many institutes in the U.S.

He also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Power Society and the Egyptian Syndicate for Engineers, according to the release.
He enjoys playing indoor and outdoor soccer in his spare time and has co-authored the book, "American Public Power Association Reliable Public Power Provider Procedure Manual," published in 2005.
Aly replaces former Deputy Director of Electric Gregg Paulson.
