Manassas Residents Killed in Md. Crash Sunday

Police said speed and alcohol were factors in a car crash that claimed the life of a man and woman from Manassas.

The Washigton Post is reporting that two of the three passengers killed in an early morning car crash in Prince George's County Sunday were residents of Manassas.

Prince George's County police told the Post that speed and alcohol were a factor in the  crash  that killed 53-year-old Eugene Johnson and  52-year-old Gwendolyn Demby—both of Manassas.

An unidentified third passenger was also pronounced dead at the scene, while a fourth passenger was injured as a result of the crash but is expected to be OK.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. after the Mazda 3 that Johnson was driving and the three others were passengers in was rear-ended  by a GMC Yukon, sending it off the road and into a tree.

According to the Post, the two occupants of the striking vehicle appeared to be "under the influence of alcohol" and were not injured.

The driver of the Yukon is in police custody. Charges are still pending.
