Salt Says:

The first thing I noticed about the restaurant when I walked in was the atmosphere. It was pleasant, the lights were dim and even though it had dozens of tables, it definitely has a warm intimate vibe.

For starters we ordered Wagyu beef and ginger dumplings and crab cakes. The beef was cooked with shallots, Thai peppers and soy sauce. The dumplings were sweet and a little spicy—a good combination. The crab cakes were big, and full of lump meat and not a lot of filler.

For mains I had the pecan-Parmesan crusted rainbow trout. It came with a generous serving of potatoes au gratin, garbanzo beans, and artichoke hearts. The potatoes were rich and filled with creamy cheddar cheese. It was amazingly good. The garbanzos were prepared with sauteed spinach, sausage and was pretty good. Even though I couldn't really taste the pecan or Parmesan in the fish, it was delicious.

It took us a while to order, but the waitress was patient and friendly. She was very helpful, maybe a little too friendly, as she took it upon herself to explain the not-so-complicated menu. The host and hostess were extremely, too. I can see myself coming back and would recommend it to anyone seeking a good seafood dinner.

Pepper Says:

As soon as we walked into Bonefish, we were seated by a hostess who clearly enjoyed her job, as she proudly wore a bonefish necklace.

We started the meal with the Maryland crab cake appetizer and the wagyu beef and ginger dumplings, both we’re amazing. The crab cakes were well seasoned and were comprised of lump crab meat, unlike a lot of places where they’re mostly breaded. The dumplings were perfectly pan seared and covered with scallions, pepper and soy sauce. The crab cakes also came with red remoulade sauce, which I did not try.

For the main course, I ordered the fillet Mignon and crab cake dinner. The steak came out exactly as I ordered it, slightly pink in the middle. The crab cake was the same as the appetizer, which I ordered because the appetizer was so good. The dish also came with two sides: Garbanzo beans with spinach and sun roasted tomatoes, and garlic whipped mashed potatoes. The beans were good, well seasoned, but I probably wouldn’t have ordered them if they didn’t come as the “side of the week." Every week, Bonefish has a side of the week that automatically comes with the meal, unless you choose to upgrade to a different side for an additional fifty cents. The garlic whipped mashed potatoes were whipped to a creamy perfection and topped with a small bit of butter. The potatoes were the perfect companion for the fillet Mignon.

Our server was friendly and informative. It also felt like she was hurrying us a little or maybe she was just being very, VERY attentive. Either way, the food was good, the prices are decent for the menu and the location is convenient. This week I was accompanied by Salt and our editor, which was a pleasant change and also added to the overall experience. My previous experience Bonefish experience was at the Chantilly location  and it, too, was pleasant. I will definitely be returning there in the future.
