Voter Registration Deadline Looms

On Feb. 13, voter registration for the upcoming primaries will close in the state of Virginia. Manassas Park residents can register at the city registrar’s office in City Hall or download the voter registration form and mail it in.

A photo ID and proof of residency such as a phone bill is needed to register to vote.

“We urge residents to register early,”  Particia Brendel, voter registrar for Manassas Park, said.  “August through October are our busy months and people can register now before the rush hits.”

Voters need to register if any personal information such as home address or a name has changed. Once the registration card arrives in the mail, a voter knows that he is registered and where to go to vote.

“If a mistake is made on the form and we need to track you down, it can take time,” Brendel said. “So, please register now and make it easier on all of us.”
