Capital Beltway Fuel Leak Prompts Lane Closures In Northern Virginia
A fuel leak was reported on the Capital Beltway near the George Washington Memorial Parkway Monday.

MCLEAN, VA — A fuel leak has prompted a fire department response and lane closures on the Capital Beltway in Northern Virginia Monday morning.
The fuel leak happened on southbound Interstate 495 (Outer Loop) under the George Washington Memorial Parkway, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. According to the fire department, a truck's saddle tank is leaking fuel on the roadway. Fire units are working to stop the leak and contain the spill. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue expects an extended response.
Two right lanes are blocked on southbound I-495. The impacted area is just south of the American Legion Bridge and Maryland border. Drivers should consider alternate routes if possible. Check for future traffic updates from WTOP Traffic.
