A tour bus engine exploded Wednesday night, closing down the northbound lanes during the Thursday morning commute.

Northbound GW Parkway opened after the lunch hour Thursday, after closing down when a tour bus engine exploded.

All northbound lanes on the George Washington Parkway were closed Thursday morning, according to MATOC, Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination.

The bus engine explosion took place Wednesday night and scattered fuel and debris, according to NBC-4.
