Fairfax County Flash Flood Warning: Live Updates
A flash flood warning has been issued for parts of Fairfax County. Follow along for live updates on the storm.

MCLEAN, VA — As heavy showers hit the area, parts of Fairfax County are under a flash flood warning until 6:15 p.m. Friday, July 28. A few inches of rain is already drenching the area, and a few more could be on the way.
The National Weather Service says the county could receive another 2 inches of precipitation as storm move through the area. A flash flood watch has also been issued from 2 p.m. Friday to 2 p.m. Saturday. Locations that may experience flooding include Fairfax County, Alexandria, Arlington County, and the City of Falls Church.
Northern Virginia drivers are likely to face difficult travel due to persistent downpours, excess water on the road and poor visibility, according to AccuWeather. Fairfax County authorities urge residents to not drive or walk through flooded areas.

10 a.m. - Falls Church received over five inches of rain.
8:30 a.m. - The heavy rain is resulting in fallen trees.
850am: Saturated ground causing trees to topple. Use extra care walking or driving in wooded areas today.

8:30 p.m. - A fallen tree temporarily shut down southbound lanes of the Fairfax County Parkway.

6 p.m. - A tree fell down and is blocking traffic at Annandale Road/Graham Road in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County.
Cars are being relocated to the Huntington Metro due to heavy flooding on Fenwick Drive and Arlington Terrace.
5:30 p.m. - Don't expect the flash flooding to let up in Fairfax County this evening, the National Weather Service cautions.

5 p.m. - Huntington is seeing significant flooding, and residents are urged to move their cars to higher elevations.

2:30 p.m. - In McLean, fallen tree and power lines had closed Georgetown Pike at Merriewood Lane in both directions. As of 5:30 p.m., it is open.
1 p.m. - Areas including Annandale have already seen three or more inches of rain fall.
