Fairfax County Officer On Leave After Reckless Driving Crash

A Fairfax County Police officer will appear in court on a reckless driving charge. He was driving at 68 mph at the time of the crash.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA—A Fairfax County police officer has been put on paid administrative leave after crashing into a car in February. He was given a summons for reckless driving on Tuesday, July 18.

Around 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 18, Officer Pshko Siteki crashed into a minivan at Leesburg Pike and Patrick Henry drive in the Falls Church area of the county. He and the other driver, a 53-year-old man, were taken to the hospital. The man is still recovering from injuries.

According to the Falls Church News-Press, he was placed on restricted duty following the accident. Siteki will appear in court on Sept. 13 and is on paid leave until then. He has been with the department for two years.

Siteki was responding to a disorderly conduct call at the time of the crash. The officer was going 68 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour zone, and he did not have his emergency lights turned on in the car.

"We take the safety of our officers and members of this community very seriously," Chief Ed Roessler said in a statement after placing Siteki on leave. "That is why an Internal Affairs investigation was quickly launched to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident."
