Fairfax County Schools Make Weather Call For Jan. 7
The school district has made a schedule change due to anticipated snow.

Fairfax County Public Schools opened on time Tuesday, Jan. 7 but will close two hours early due to anticipated snow. The school district cited the weather and possible hazardous driving conditions in its decision.
Morning preschool (special education) classes will be dismissed around 11 a.m. Full-day preschool (special education) and Family and Early Childhood Education Program-Head Start classes are dismissed two hours earlier than the usual time. Afternoon preschool (special education) classes are canceled. School Age Child Care will stay open until 6:15 p.m. but parents are urged to pick up children earlier if possible. All late buses are cancelled.

The School Board’s Capital Improvement Program public hearing tonight at 6 p.m. at Jackson Middle School is being rescheduled.
The early dismissal comes as the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Northern Virginia, calling for 1 to 3 inches of snow in some parts. Forecasters expect the most snowfall Tuesday afternoon into the early evening.
