Fairfax County Search And Rescue Team Finds Dorian Survivors
The team deployed to the hurricane-ravaged Bahamas found two people who were stranded on an island.

Fairfax County's urban search and rescue team is making a difference since being deployed to the Bahamas in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian. The USAID's Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance tweeted Sunday that the team rescued two people who were stuck on a remote island.
The team, made up of 57 people and four canines, was deployed to the Bahamas on Sept. 2 as part of the U.S. AID's Disaster Assistance Response Team. They've also searched 156 houses around the Abaco islands for survivors and to determine if they were safe for residents to return to. The U.S. team is coordinating with the Bahamas government on search and rescue missions and other critical operations.
The Abaco islands were among the hardest hit areas of Hurricane Dorian, which struck the Bahamas as a category 5 storm. Officials have confirmed 44 deaths in the Bahamas from Hurricane Dorian, and that count could rise as rescue efforts continue, according to the Washington Post.
