FCPD Shares Decade of Data on Officer-Involved Shootings

The Reston district was found to have the fewest officer-involved shootings since 2005, while the McLean district was tied for second-most.

After Fairfax County Police were found to have withheld information in the case of John Geer, an unarmed man shot and killed by an officer in a 2013 standoff, the department is seeking to be more transparent in the community.

With this in mind, it released a decade’s worth of data on officer-involved shootings on Tuesday evening, detailing all 37 across its police districts.
