McLean Community Center Budget Process Begins For 2021

Residents can attend meetings and submit comments before the McLean Community Center's governing board approves the budget.

MCLEAN, VA — The McLean Community Center's governing board will begin work on the fiscal year 2021 budget with several meetings. Residents of the MCC Tax District, also known as Dranesville Small District 1A, can participate in the process.

During the Finance Committee Meeting of the Whole on Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m., the full board will work on the budget. The budget proposal process includes a review of fiscal year 2019 year-end actuals, the current fiscal year 2020 budget and new proposals for fiscal year 2021. The budget will cover the fiscal year between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021.

A public hearing on the budget will follow on Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m. The preliminary budget will be available to view at www.mcleancenter.org, and at the MCC reception desk a week before the public hearing. Meetings are held at the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Avenue.

McLean Community Center facilities and operations are funded through a special real estate tax paid by MCC Tax District residents. This is on top of the real estate tax Fairfax County residents pay. Last year, the MCC budget kept the real estate tax rate at $0.023 per $100 of assessed value.

Once the budget proposal is released, residents in the MCC Tax District can submit comments by mail (address to McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean VA 22101), fax (703-653-9435) or email to MCC Executive Director George Sachs at george.sachs@fairfaxcounty.gov.
