McLean Woman Named To Historic Preservation Council By President Biden
President Joe Biden appointed his former legislative staff director in the U.S. Senate to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.

MCLEAN, VA — President Joe Biden appointed Jane Woodfin of McLean to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation as a general public member.
“On behalf of our members and staff, I am pleased to announce Jane Woodfin is joining the ACHP,” ACHP Chair Bronin said, in a release on Wednesday. “We are honored to welcome someone who has devoted her life to public service. We will benefit greatly from her legislative expertise and her sound judgment in navigating complex issues critical to historic preservation in America.”
Graduating magna cum laude from Georgetown University, Woodfin practiced law for a few years before serving seven years as assistant attorney general of Michigan. She then worked as a legislative aide to Sen. Bob Traxler's (D-Michigan) and spent 15 years directing Biden's legislative staff in the U.S. Senate. After Biden was elected vice president, Woodfin was policy director to Sen. Edward E. Kaufman (D-Delaware).

“It is an honor for me to be selected by the President for this position,” Woodfin said, in a release. “Preserving our heritage, our values, our stories, is an important part of protecting and strengthening our democracy. I look forward to doing my small part to advance this ongoing work."
Raised in historic Lexington, Massachusetts, Woodfin counts Paul Revere among her distant relatives. She will serve on the ACHP until her term ends in June 2028.
