McLean's Summer Sunday Concert Series Continues with Visit by Jennifer Cutting

Cutting and her band combine traditional Irish and Scottish music with an American rock 'n' roll rhythm section to provide one unique sound.

The McLean Community Center’s Summer Sunday Concert Series will continue this weekend on July 19 with a performance by Jennifer Cutting’s Ocean Orchestra, which promises to bring one of the most unique sounds of the season to the Summer Sunday stage.

Cutting’s ensemble is a “genre-bending Celtic band that crosses Scottish and Irish jigs with a rock and roll rhythm section, power-pop, classical symphonic themes and spine-tingling electronics,” according to a Community Center news release.

The Ocean Orchestra will perform at the McLean Central Park Gazebo located at the intersection of Old Dominion Drive and Route 123 at 5 p.m. on the 19th. Free parking is available, and the show is free to attend.

Cutting’s performance is just one installment in the season-long series that aims to feature bands with female front-women emphasizing “girl power” on stage. The sounds of the artists who have come through the McLean stage may vary, but one thing they share in common are their strong, successful female leads.
