Metro Train Cars Separate Near McLean Station: Report
Two Metro cars reportedly separated after leaving the McLean Station over the weekend.
MCLEAN, VA—Two Metro Silver Line train cars separated after departing the McLean station on Saturday, according to a report.
Watchdog organization Rail Transit OPS Group posted on Facebook that Silver Line train 604, traveling from Wiehle-Reston East to Foggy Bottom, had a separation between the fifth and sixth cars (6038-6039) about 2,000 feet after departing the McLean station.
The group says it happened at around 10:41 a.m., and service was impacted until about 5:01 p.m. The cars were on a 6000-series train. Trains were halted for a short time as personnel inspected the disabled cars. Recovery trains were used to pull the disabled cars to West Falls Church rail yard and another yard.

Metro identified the incident as a disabled train and said trains were single tracking temporarily.

There were no reported injuries to the approximately 80 passengers on board. Rail Transit OPS Group is working on an "Event Review" of the incident.
