Nearly a Third of Comstock Campaign Funded from Outside Virginia
The money raised in Virginia for Comstock shows 59 percent is from outside the 10th District.

Next week, McLean residents who live in the 10th and 8th congressional districts will be voting for new congressional representatives.
On the ballot to succeed Congressman Frank Wolf in the 10th: Republican Barbara Comstock, who currently represents the 34th District in Richmond and Democrat John Foust, who represents the Dranesville District on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.
On the ballot to succeed Congressman Jim Moran in the 8th: Democrat Don Beyer, a local businessman and former lieutenant governor of Virginia and Republican Micah Edmond. Beyer is widely seen as the front runner in that race.

10th District campaign donations
Figures show that a lot of people who live outside of the 10th District are hoping to influence the outcome of the election.
The Center for Responsive Politics shows that nearly a third or 27 percent of Comstock’s campaign donations have come from outside of Virginia.
Of the $631,194 she has taken in as of Oct. 15, $237,329 came from outside of Virginia.
Foust has raised $548,835 and $97,909 or 15 percent of that is from outside the Commonwealth.
Of funding to the Comstock campaign from Virginians, 59 percent of that is from residents who live outside of the 10th District.
Of Foust’s donations from Virginians, 53 percent is from outside the 10th District.

In McLean, 22102 residents have contributed $2,845,179 during the 2014 election cycle or 78 times more than the average ZIP code. The ZIP code is split between the 10th and 8th congressional Districts.
Residents in 22102 have donated more money to the Foust campaign: $111,188 vs $90,800 to the Comstock campaign.
On the Senate side, 22101 residents have donated more heavily to the Mark Warner campaign, at $173,100 than to the Ed Gillespie campaign, at $70,750.

In McLean’s 22101 ZIP code, residents have donated $4,768,135 during the 2014 election cycle or 131 times more than the average ZIP code.
Residents in 22101 have donated more money to the Comstock campaign: $193,699 vs $151,356 to the Foust campaign.
On the Senate side, 22101 residents have donated more heavily to the Mark Warner campaign $205,827, than to the Ed Gillespie campaign: $150,622.
In addition to parts of McLean, the 10th also includes Winchester, Berryville, Leesburg, Ashburn, Sterling, Aldie, Brambleton, Manassas, Clifton and parts of Fairfax Station.
