Police Helicopter Locates Injured Person On McLean Hiking Trail
Police set out to find the man at night when a relative said he didn't return from his hike.

MCLEAN, VA—A man injured on a hiking trail in McLean is safe after a rescue in the dark Tuesday, March 5.
Fairfax County Police told Patch in an email the rescue happened at Scott's Run Nature Preserve. The man's sister called for help when he didn't return from the hike and temperatures were falling at night.
The Fairfax County Police helicopter went out with officers and Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel on the ground. Video posted by the police department shows the helicopter locating the man in the dark woods.

Before first responders found him, the man had broken his leg and was stuck on the trail for hours. Officers kept him comfortable until firefighters could get him out on an ATV.
