Possession Of Child Sexual Abuse Material Leads To Arrest Of VA Man

MCLEAN, VA — Fairfax County Police arrested a 20-year-old man for taking a missing teen from New York to the suspect's home in McLean and possessing child sexual abuse material.

New York police notified FCPD's Missing Person Squad and Child Exploitation Unit on March 15 that a missing teen from New York might be in Fairfax County.

Investigators visited a home in the 7300 block of Sportsman Drive in McLean and found the missing teen. Detectives determined Muammer Steve Demir of McLean had driven to New York last August and brought the teen back with him to Virginia.

While searching the home, police found that Demir was in possession of child sexual abuse material. They arrested Demir and took him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with carnal knowledge of a child and possession of child abuse material.

Demir is being held without bond. Detectives anticipate that he will face additional charges.

The teen was reunited with their family. Victim specialists with FCPD's Victim Services Division were assigned to the case in order to provide the victim with appropriate resources and assistance.
