Rescue Units Save Woman Stranded at Scott's Run After Sudden Storm

The storm caused water levels to quickly rise, stranding the woman on a rock in the middle of the river without a life jacket.

Fire and Rescue units from McLean, Great Falls and Jefferson were called into action at Scott’s Run Nature Preserve on Monday after a swift and heavy downpour caused water levels to suddenly rise, leaving a park visitor in peril.

A spokesman for Fairfax County Fire and Rescue told Patch the rise in water level was abrupt after the storm cell passed through the area in the span of approximately five minutes. He also noted the woman was not wearing a life jacket.
