Tysons Corner Hotel Wins High Marks in Industry Guide

The local Ritz-Carlton is among four in Washington area to win a coveted annual rating.

McLEAN, VA — The Ritz-Carlton hotel in Tysons Corner has achieved a top honor among luxury hotels - a four-star rating in a leading industry guide. And three of the chain's other hotels in the Washington area have won the same award.

The Forbes Travel Guide recently announced its list of Star Award recipients, to recognize what it calls the world's finest hotels, restaurants and spas. For 2017, the guide rated properties in 42 countries throughout the Americas, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, according to a Forbes statement.

The travel guide says the Ritz-Carlton in Tysons Corner "is a luxurious retreat from the bustle" of Washington, D.C., within walking distance of the Tysons Galleria and the Tysons Corner mall. The hotel has 348 rooms, 50 suites, a spa and conference rooms.

Four Star awards also went to the Ritz-Carlton hotels in Pentagon City, Georgetown and Washington, D.C. The Pentagon City hotel offers "tailored elegance," says the guide, with feather beds, a fitness center and an upscale restaurant.

The Forbes ratings are compiled by a team of inspectors who anonymously evaluate properties "against up to 800 objective standards," the company said. The travel guide uses a scoring system with a proprietary algorithm that weighs service at 75 percent and the quality of the facility at 25 percent.

The Ritz-Carlton chain, based in Chevy Chase, Md., operates luxury hotels and resorts around the world.
