Tysons Fitness Studio Raises Money For Australia Fire Victims

A fitness franchise based out of Australia with a studio in Tysons has started a large fundraiser in light of the wildfires.

TYSONS, VA — A fitness studio in Tysons joined the efforts to raise money for the those affected by the Australian bushfires.

F45 Training Tysons, which opened at The Boro mixed-use development, is part of a fitness franchise based in Australia. Hillcrest Health, LLC, which operated the Tysons location along with the F45 Training Ashburn location, matched donations to raise a total of $1,810 for the franchise's massive GoFundMe campaign.

F45 locations held "Heroes Hollywood" workouts on Jan. 18 as a fundraiser in light of the Australian bushfires. The campaign surpassed its original goal of $150,000 and continues to raise over $420,000 to date. Donations from the GoFundMe campaign to go the Australian Red Cross, WWF Australia and WIRES Wildlife Rescue.

"Australia needs us right now and we all want to help – that’s what makes F45 a family," said Jeffrey Harnois, CEO of Hillcrest Health, LLC. "We want to do our bit as a community to raise funds for this crisis and to recognize the volunteers and firefighters who have been working relentlessly."

The bushfires have killed more than 30 people and destroyed over 2,600 homes since September, according to the Associated Press.
