Virginians Buy Over 26K Pounds Of Its Top Halloween Candy
Virginians buy enough of this candy to match the weight of four average-sized cars.

MCLEAN, VA—We can assume people buy a lot of candy around Halloween to fill up trick-or-treaters' bags, but looking at the amounts are shocking. Candystore.com, an online candy seller, took sales data from 2007-2016 to determine just exactly how much each state buys and what their favorite candies are.
Snickers is a top seller in Virginia, which makes sense because it's the first state in the U.S. peanuts were grown in. It beat out last year's number one candy, Hot Tamales, for the top spot in 2017.
In all, Virginians bought 26,783 pounds of Snickers, 26,178 pounds of Hot Tamales and 18,726 pounds of candy corn. The top candy alone equates to the weight of over four average-sized cars.

Compared to other states, these numbers are just a drop in the bucket. Virginia and DC are in the bottom 10 for the amount of its top candy sold, while Californians and Texans buy millions of pounds.
