Attempted Robbery Reported In Oakton

A 23-year-old woman was walking Monday night by a residential area in Oakton when a man tried to rob her.

OAKTON, VA -- Fairfax County Police are looking for an unknown suspect in a robbery Monday night in Oakton. The incident happened a few blocks south of the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Metro Station.

Between 9:20 p.m. and 9:45 p.m., a 23-year-old woman was walking at Circle Woods Drive and Hickory Grove Court when a man approached and tried to take her backpack. She ran to a nearby home for help and the unknown suspect left the area. The victim did not require medical attention.

The unknown suspect was described as black or of Middle Eastern descent, in his late 30s, about 6 feet tall and 240 pounds. He wore a red plaid jacket with a hood and a gray T-shirt.
