Daily Baseball Update: 7/3

Historical Individual Seasons: Brady Anderson 1996
Stat Line: 50 HR, 110 RBI, .297 AVG, 21 SB.  Age 32.
Brady Anderson had never hit more than 21 home runs in a season, nor had he batted over .271 or driven in over 80 runs in any of his first eight years in the majors.  In 1996, his ninth season, he just took off at the plate, smacking 50 home runs, knocking in 110, and batting .297 to earn his way into the Home Run Derby.  He started the season off with a bang, hitting eleven home runs in April while batting .320.  While playing on the road, he managed 31 home runs, 64 RBI, and a .315 average in just 279 at bats.  He also tagged right handed pitchers for 37 home runs and a .319 average in 392 at bats.  Despite his great offensive insurgence, he could only lead the AL in extra base hits (92) and hit-by-pitches (22) due to great seasons from Mark McGwire (52 HR, 113 RBI, .312 AVG) and Alex Rodriguez (36 HR, 123 RBI, .358 AVG).  He didn't win a Silver Slugger or MVP, but he played in the All Star Game and won a Player of the Week award in April.
