Dr. Laura Anderko Presents: Healing our Planet: Climate Change and Humanity

Join the discussion on Healing our Planet: Climate Change and Humanity at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax, 2709 Hunter Mill Rd. in Oakton, VA on Sunday, April 17 at 12:45pm. The event will be held in the UUCF Sanctuary Building, the large main church building to the right, coming from the parking lot.
Faith leaders have embraced the need for us to protect the planet from future climate changes, noting the delicate relationship between humanity and the health of the planet. This lecture will present new information released in the White House Climate and Assessment report, local perspectives, and strategies for healing our planet. Dr. Anderko served previously on the Environmental Protection Agency's federal advisory committee, the Children's Health Protection Advisory Committee (CHPAC) and the National Environmental Justice Advisory Committee Research Workgroup.
Speaker: Laura Anderko, PhD, RN, holds the Robert and Kathleen Scanlon Chair in Values Based Health Care at Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health Studies. She is a scholar and educator in the fields of epidemiology, public health and environmental health. Dr. Anderko earned her PhD in public health from the University of Illinois, an MS from Northern Illinois University, and a BSN from University of Illinois. Dr. Anderko, a Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow, serves as a member of the Regional III Health Equity Council for HHS, Research Co-Chair for the Alliance of Nurses for a Healthy Environment, and as Chair for the National Center for Children's Vision and Eye Health Advisory Board (Maternal Child Health Bureau, HRSA).
