Get Active, Have Fun, Celebrate Family: Family 5K and Fun Run supports educational enrichment for community students
Register for Oakton Elementary School Family 5K and Fun Run supporting community students. Online registration ends April 19.
Register today for the third annual Family 5K and Fun Run, taking place in the heart of Vienna on Sunday, April 24. The race, put on by the Oakton Elementary School (OES) PTA, is a fun way for families to celebrate a healthy lifestyle and get active together.
The OES PTA created the race to raise money to enhance the educational experience of OES students, promote healthy lifestyles, and build and strengthen the bonds of community in Oakton and Vienna where OES students and families live, learn, work and play. Last year, family newsletter Red Tricycle included the Family 5K and Fun run as one of their favorite races in the area.
“The 5K is one of my most favorite events of the year.” said Christine Kelley, Oakton Elementary’s Principal. “There is something special about getting out early on a cool spring morning. I love hearing our students and parents cheer for everyone as they cross the finish line. The funds that we raise from the 5K go directly to our students to support our continued focus on literacy by putting books in the hands of our students. Oakton is such a supportive and positive community and this event brings out the best in all of us.

Families are encouraged to participate in the event together. In addition to the race, come out to participate in other family-friendly activities like a one mile fun run and a post-race party with face painting, entertainment and more!
