More than One Universe?
Presentation by Zim Putney on Sunday, April 3 at 12:45pm in Oakton

Join the discussion on More than One Universe? at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax, 2709 Hunter Mill Rd. in Oakton, VA on Sunday, April 3 at 12:45pm. The event will be held in the Sanctuary Building, the large main church building to the right, upon your approach after leaving the parking lot.
Topic: From the dawn of time humans have had a passionate desire to understand the origin of the universe. Where did we come from? From one known galaxy a century ago we now know there are billions of them. Beginning with a brief review the foundations laid by Aristarchus, Galileo, Einstein, Hubble and others, we move on to the more recent proof for “inflation” (the driver of the Big Bang) and, finally, still developing mathematical formulations, including String and M-Theories that project numerous multiverse possibilities. Everything will be presented in lay terms.
Speaker: Zim Putney has a Master of Science degree in physics from Brown University. Recently retired from a career in which he used his science background to address the practical more than the theoretical, he has now returned to his original quest: to understand the origins of our lives.
