Oakton House 'Total Loss' After Fire Tuesday

Smoke alarm alerted occupants; no injuries. Fire is under investigation.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire, Tuesday, Jan. 6, at approximately 4:45 p.m., in the Oakton area of Fairfax County, according to a news release from the county.

The single-family home is located at 3010 Rose Creek Court.

Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of both the first and second floors of the two-story home upon arrival.

Two adults, a male and female, were alerted by a sounding smoke alarm and escaped unharmed prior to firefighters arriving. Due to the heavy fire conditions firefighters conducted defensive fire operations.

Despite the heavy fire, and challenging icy conditions, firefighters were able to protect the attached garage and two vehicles. Six occupants have been displaced. Red Cross support was offered but declined by the occupants. There were no injuries.

The home is a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
