Oakton Otters Dive Team Results of NVSL Division 3 Dive Meets
In their third meet of the season (July 11 and 13), delayed due to thunder, the Otter divers fought until the end, beating Chesterbrook by one point, with a final score of 36 to 35. Four Otter divers placed first in their respective categories: Katie Vaughan in Junior Girls with a score of 140.95; Molly Estes in Intermediate Girls with a score of 128.35; Sarah Gurley in Senior Girls with a score of 217.75; and Liam Klopfenstein in Senior Boys with a score of 161.25. The other Otter divers who placed were: Megan Shipley (Freshman Girls, second); Samantha Shuster (Freshman Girls, third). Leo Estes (Freshman Boys, second); Kalina Montel (Junior Girls, third); Jon Anthony Montel (Junior Boys, third); Molly Kenefick (Intermediate Girls, second); Blaise Wuest (Intermediate Boys, second); and Josh Shipley (Intermediate Boys, third).
In another nail biter, and again battling delays for thunder and lightning, the Otters won their fourth dual meet of the season against Hayfield Farm with a final score of 38 to 33. The start of the meet on Tuesday (July 18) was delayed for thunder, and at 9 p.m. when the seniors were ready to dive, all remaining events (Senior Boys and Girls) were postponed due to lightning – with the score tied at 27 for each team. Last night (July 19), the Seniors brought home the win! Four Otter divers placed first in their respective categories: Megan Shipley in Freshman Girls with a score of 57.45; Katie Vaughan in Junior Girls with a score of 128.45; Spencer Dearman in Intermediate Boys with a score of 131.45; and Liam Klopfenstein in Senior Boys with a score of 170.1. The Otters swept the category of Intermediate Boys (Blaise Wuest, second; Josh Shipley, third). The other divers who placed were: Jon Anthony Montel (Freshman Boys, second); Landon Nelson (Junior Boys, third); Sarah Gurley (Intermediate Girls, second); Molly Kenefick (Intermediate Girls, third); Molly Estes (Senior Girls, second); and Brad Burgeson (Senior Boys, second).
The Otters enter the fifth and final meet of the 2017 Summer season with a winning record of 3 and 1. The final meet is on Tuesday (July 25) at Mantua.
