Oakton Playwright's New Play Features a Celtic Tale

Two performances remaining

FAIRFAX, VA -- Be carried away to a time long ago when mythological gods and creatures ruled the universe, when music, light and air fused. This is the time of the Irish god of the sun, art and music. Yet, even he, the mighty Lugh could not overcome his strongest enemy – his own arrogance. The play was written by Amelia Townsend of Oakton, author of novels, The Best Doctor in Town, Keepsakes for the Heart and four other plays, all produced in Fairfax.

Preview night on September 9 offers half-price tickets for the original play, Celtic Spring The storytelling format takes you along on the journey as Lugh the ancient Irish god of art, music and the sun, is forced to search for a new homeland. If Lugh fails, he can never go home to Ireland again. Seating is limited for this performance and the tickets are $10.

Dinner Theatre on September 10 Benefits Adults with Intellectual Disabilities

The final performance at 7 p.m. on September 10 is a dinner theatre held at St. Leo the Great School gym. Reservations and tickets are available via email at kofckitchen6292@gmail.com. Proceeds will benefit for the Knights of Columbus KOVAR organization, which supports individuals with intellectual disabilities. The evening features an Irish-themed dinner.

Meet the Cast

The three-member cast includes Braden Aust as Lugh, Jess Rawls as the Storyteller and Jennifer Rose as Anu and Dawn. Michael Replogle is directing Celtic Spring.
