Pedestrian Killed In Fair Oaks Area: Police
A pedestrian was struck outside a crosswalk Tuesday morning, according to Fairfax County Police.
FAIRFAX, VA—Fairfax County Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed Tuesday morning in the Fair Oaks area.
Initial investigations found the pedestrian was trying to cross Lee Jackson Memorial Highway near Alder Woods Drive around 6 a.m. A 2017 Toyota Highlander driver struck the pedestrian as he crossed the road outside a crosswalk.
The pedestrian, identified as Ralph Johnson, 63, of Reston, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. Detectives say speed and alcohol were not factors for the driver, but alcohol may have been a factor for the pedestrian.
