Science and the Jewish Tradition

Presentation & Discussion on Sunday, March 6 at 12:45pm in Oakton

Science and the Jewish Tradition, a presentation and discussion with Rabbi Stuart Weinblatt, will occur on Sunday, March 6 at 12:45pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax, 2709 Hunter Mill Road in Oakton, VA. This event will be held in the Sanctuary Building, the large main church building to the right as you leave the parking lot.

Background:

While some commentators insist that modern science poses a threat to traditional Jewish beliefs—similarly to its perceived threat to evangelical Christianity—others dispute this (as is typical in Judaism) by insisting that nothing could be more consistent with the broad sweep of Jewish tradition than the scientific method. While science became an alternative faith for newly assimilated Jews, it has also become an expression and reinforcement of faith for Jewish scientists, which ultimately only enhances their contributions to the wider world.
