Alexandria Police Make Arrest In Gunshots Fired Cases, Persons Of Interest Detained
Alexandria police made an arrest in one case of gunshots fired Monday and detained persons of interest in two cases.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria Police tackled several cases of gunshots fired within the same day Monday, leading to one arrest and other persons of interest being detained.
Alexandria Police say the cases are not related, and no injuries were reported from the gunshots.
The first report of gunfire happened in the 1200 block of Madison Street, which is in Old Town West near the Braddock Road Metro. Police detained three persons of interest and found two guns in connection with the report.

The second instance of gunshots fired happened in the 3600 block of King Street, which is the area of the Bradlee Shopping Center. Police made one arrest and found one gun.
While the investigation continues, police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public from the incidents. Police say persons of interest were detained within hours in both cases.

ALX Now reported another shooting incident, where an employee was reportedly shot at 7-Eleven in the 3000 block of Duke Street. Police said the incident was a commercial robbery shooting that caused a non-life-threatening injury.
Mayor Justin Wilson tweeted on Monday "it has been a rough 48 hours in our City" amid several gun-related crimes that started over the weekend.
On Sunday, police responded to a shooting with one serious injury in the 200 block of South Whiting Street as well as an armed robbery with minor injuries in the 4900 block of Seminary Road.
On Saturday, police tackled two reports of gunshots with no injuries in the area of Duke and Dove Streets, as well as North Van Dorn Street and Braddock Road. One other shooting incident with non-life-threatening injuries was reported Friday in the 300 block of South Reynolds Street.
Alexandria Police recently reported crime data to the Alexandria City Council, noting overall violent crime fell from 2021 to 2022. However, gun-related cases that reflect different types of crimes increased from 76 to 152 incidents from 2021 to 2022.
