ALEXANDRIA, VA — As you follow the Olympics in Tokyo, it might be time to think about having a furry companion by your side on the couch. The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria has plenty of adoptable pets to choose from.

Boostie is one of these adoptable pets that will entertain you once he warms up to you. In fact, this cat would be quite the contender if there were Olympics for hide-and-seek and napping. He's currently in a foster home and can meet potential adopters there. Interested adopters can email adopt@alexandriaanimals.org or call 703-746-5662 x2 to learn more and set up an appointment.

Bootsie, 6-Year-Old, Male Black and White Domestic Short-Haired Cat
Hi! My name is Bootsie and I am a handsome gentleman who just loves people. Sure, you might be fooled because I need a week or so to come out of my shell, but once I'm comfortable, I will follow my human all around the house, especially at meal time. The humans in my foster home say I am an absolute delight!
I also enjoy being with other cats and love to touch noses. A few times a day, I play hide and seek with my four-legged foster sister or try to tackle my favorite catnip toy. But most of all, I love making my presence known by plopping down in front of my foster human. Whether it's on a desk, table, couch, or counter, I just want some cuddles! I'm a top napper, too, and need to relax after my meals.
The AWLA veterinary team has informed me that I have diabetes and need insulin shots two times a day. I don't notice the needles at all because they're so small, and my foster mom keeps saying how easy it is to do. My doctor says that one day I might not even need the needles at all. But for now, I'm enjoying spending time with my amazing fosters until I can find a family of my own.
