ALEXANDRIA, VA — Faced with a must-win game, the Alexandria Aces are seeking to pack the stadium Monday for the second game in the league championship series.

The Aces, a collegiate baseball team, will play rival team the Bethesda Big Train at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Frank Mann Field at Four Mile Run Park (3700 Commonwealth Avenue) in Alexandria. The must-win game is the last home game of the season for the Aces at Frank Mann Field.

"We’re incredibly proud of our players, coaches, and community," said Alexandria Aces president Frank Fannon. "This team has fought hard all season, and now we have a chance to win it all—right here in Alexandria. We need our fans to pack Frank Mann Field and give us that home field advantage!"

The team faced a 10-4 loss against the Big Train in Game 1 in a best-of-three championships series. A win in Game 2 on Monday would force a Game 3 on July 29 in Bethesda, Maryland.

This is the fourth time in five years that the Aces are in the league championship of the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League. The Aces last won the league title in 2022 and had a 23-13 record during this regular season.

The Alexandria Aces date back to 2006, serving as a summer league for collegiate baseball stars to help their development. The late Donald R. Dinan co-founded the team with Patrick Malone. Today, Fannon, a former Alexandria City Council member, leads the team as president.

Since their inaugural season in 2008, 50 Aces players have been chosen in the Major League Baseball drafts. The team had a record seven players drafted in 2025.
