Alexandria To Add 'No Turn On Red' At Dozens Of Places
The city said it would gradually add the restrictions in the coming months. See a map of where the changes will take place.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—The City of Alexandria has announced it will add "no turn on red" restrictions at dozens of intersections around the city. The changes will roll out beginning in late fall and gradually over the coming months.
The changes come as part of the city's Vision Zero plan. City staff added "no turn on red" restrictions as a year one engineering priority, intended to bolster safety for all forms of transportation.
The city make the restrictions a priority after analyzing crash data, which indicated turning-movement crashes are among the most common in Alexandria. From 2011 to 2016, 445 pedestrians were involved in crashes; one in seven resulted in serious injury or death.
