Alexandria Beautification Nominations Accepted Through June 1
Some of the categories are Excellence in Architecture, Residential Beautification and Commercial Beautification.

From Alexandria Beautification Commission: The Alexandria Beautification Commission is currently seeking nominations for their annual Beautification Awards. Nominees should demonstrate exceptional efforts in contributing to the beautification of their communities, neighborhoods and residences through architecture, landscaping or sustainable practices.
Nominees may be residents, businesses or community groups, provided that they have not received a Beautification Award within the previous five years.

Nominations will be accepted for the following six categories: Excellence in Architecture, Excellence in Sustainable Design, Green Practices in Beautification, Community Beautification, Residential Beautification, and Commercial Beautification.
In the early fall, the Commission will host its 2018 Alexandria Beautification Awards Ceremony, where the winners will be announced and presented with awards by the Mayor and members of the City Council. The Beautification Awards are a celebration of excellence in the community,” says Christina Mazurkevich, Commission member and real estate agent. “It’s a way to recognize the exemplary efforts of those individuals, businesses and organizations that make Alexandria a beautiful place to live and to visit.”

Nominations can be submitted via an online form at AlexandriaVA.gov/beautification
All submissions must be received by June 1, 2018.
About The Alexandria Beautification Commission:
The Alexandria Beautification Commission was established to advise City Council and facilitate community efforts to improve the City of Alexandria’s architectural and landscape environments. The Commission works in collaboration with the City of Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities. Its mission is to promote the beautification of the City of Alexandria through landscaping, architecture and sustainability. The Commission sponsors the Alexandria Beautification Awards each year.
