Alexandria Coronavirus Update: 12 New Cases, No New Deaths

There are 12 new cases of the new coronavirus in the Alexandria Health District as of Tuesday.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — There are 12 new cases of the new coronavirus in the Alexandria Health District as of Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases in the health district to 2,248.

There are no additional COVID-19-related deaths in the health district as of Tuesday, as the death count remains at 49, according to the Virginia Department of Health. COVID-19 is the disease caused by the coronavirus. In the health district, there are currently 231 hospitalized patients.

As of Tuesday, there are 58,994 total cases statewide, according to data reported by the Virginia Department of Health. In Virginia, there have been 1,645 coronavirus-related deaths to date. There are currently 5,913 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

There have been 12 coronavirus outbreak in the Alexandria Health District as of Tuesday, with 207 cases related to an outbreak. There have been 10 outbreaks at long term care facilities, one outbreak at a congregate setting and one outbreak in an educational setting in Alexandria. There have been 171 reported coronavirus cases in Alexandria healthcare workers.

On Tuesday, Virginia health officials reported 15,800 COVID-19 tests have been taken in Alexandria, with a 4.8 percent positivity rate. Statewide there have been 627,248 COVID-19 tests taken, with a 6.1 percent positivity rate.

  • 80+: 86 cases
