In Alexandria: Hillary Clinton Caps Roller Coaster Week Rallying Supporters in Old Town

Some pundits are saying that presidential candidate, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, had quite the week last week, after what many said was her star turn Oct. 13 in the first debate among the Democratic presidential candidates in Las Vegas:

• On Tuesday, fellow candidate Jim Webb (and Falls Church area resident) dropped out of the Democratic primary.
• Wednesday, Vice President Joe Biden announced from the Rose Garden that he would not run for president. After grieving the death of his son Beau, in May, he said he didn’t think there was adequate time to start a campaign.
• Thursday, Clinton endured an 11-hour hearing called by Republicans, about her role as Secretary of State after the attack on the U.S. embassy in Benghazi in 2012 that left four dead, including the ambassador.
• Friday, fellow candidate, former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chaffee, also dropped out of the Democratic primary.

Clinton capped off the week rallying supporters in Market Square in Old Town Alexandria on a picture-perfect autumn day with Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe by her side.
