Alexandria Pet Of The Week: A 'Great Lounge Buddy'

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Leo is a sweet middle-aged dog who loves to meet new people. And he would love to lounge with the forever family that adopts him.

Leo is one of the many pets looking for a home from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria's animal shelter. If a sweet, 8-year-old dog that is chill sounds like your kind of pet, get to the animal shelter to meet him.

Thanks to a generous donor, Leo’s adoption fees have been paid.

Additionally, the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is hosting an "Adopt Me, I'm Irish" promotion starting Saturday, March 14, and running through St. Patrick's Day on Tuesday, March 17. Fees will be waived for all small animals, dogs and cats 6+ months thanks to a sponsorship by Petco Love.

"Leo is a very distinguished older gentleman who is seeking the companionship of a loving person. He is a very sweet dog who weighs 77 pounds at the age of eight years old. Leo loves meeting new people! Since he is a little older, he is quite chill and would make a great lounge buddy. He grew up with children of varying ages and lived with other dogs. It has been reported that he has pretty good house manners and can be left alone for a couple of hours without issues.

"Leo is a playful pup, and a favorite game is fetch, although he isn’t too invested in bringing the ball back! He can be very affectionate and loves being petted. Leo is going to make a great couch hot pocket as you unwind after a long day. He is also a pretty smart dog who knows the cues for sit and paw. If you are looking for a loving companion who will always be there for you, Leo may be the perfect choice."

Adoption hours at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, 4101 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria, are noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
