Alexandria Repaving Continues With 10 Streets Over 2 Weeks
Street resurfacing continues around the city along with sidewalk maintenance.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — Repaving work on City of Alexandria streets continues with 10 weeks scheduled over weekdays in the next two weeks.
The city maintains over 561 lane miles of road and typically repaves about 50 each year. Roads are prioritized using a pavement condition index score, which is based on the road condition and factors like volume and type of traffic, planned utility work, and cost. The work begins with curb and gutter repair work and making upgrades for Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb access ramps.
During the week of July 11-15 and 18-22, the following streets are scheduled for repaving:

Repaving work typically happens on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. and involves heavy equipment that can cause noise. Roads will reopen for overnight parking and traffic at the end of each work day. Residents on affected streets will receive advance notice through project signs or letters.
Access to the impacted streets will be limited during repaving work, but crews will let local traffic through to access driveways. Temporary no parking signs will also be posted. Some work may be done overnight on heavily traveled roads.
The repaving program is expected to continue through mid-November. The latest repaving schedule is provided on the city's website.
