Alexandria Rotary Announces 2017 Grant Program

The Rotary Club is now accepting applications for its 2017 Grant Program to support nonprofit organizations.

From the Rotary Club of Alexandria: The Rotary Club is now accepting applications for its 2017 Grant Program to support nonprofit organizations that advance literacy for children and adults and/or improve the lives of children, youth, seniors, and others with special needs in the Alexandria community.

The grants are funded from the organization’s annual Taste For Giving fundraiser, which is held each October.

"We had excellent support and many volunteers from our local nonprofit community at this year’s Taste for Giving Event. We raised 50% more than the previous year, and we hope to award over $60,000 in 2017,” said Rotary club president Tom Roberts. “Working together, we can make a difference in Alexandria."

The Rotary Club of Alexandria has set specific criteria for the grants and is looking for programs and activities that strengthen core programs, provide seed funding for a new program, program element, or initiative, or support capital expenditures. Collaborative projects with other nonprofits are accepted, with a single grant made to the lead organization.

Standard grant amounts typically range from $500 to $5000. In 2017, in addition to its customary “Standard Grants,” the Club will consider awarding High-Impact Grants of $5000 for particularly compelling proposals. An organization may apply for a Standard Grant, a High-impact Grant, or both.
