Alexandria Elementary School Building Secured Temporarily Due To Incident
A trespasser refusing to leave an elementary school led to the building being secured temporarily Monday morning.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A trespasser refusing to leave an Alexandria elementary school led to a temporary "secure the building" status Monday.
William Ramsay Elementary's building was secured around 10:54 a.m. for about 15 minutes Monday, Principal Michael Routhouska told families in a letter. According to the principal, a person not authorized to be at the school refused to leave and did not make it past security at the vestibule entrance. Alexandria Police responded to the site and determined there was no threat to the school.
The school has since resumed normal operations. Routhouska said the security decision was made "out of an abundance of caution." "Secure the building" status means the school day continued, but no one could enter or leave the building.
