Alexandria School Named A National Blue Ribbon School
The Department of Education announced 349 winners of the prestigious award.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—An Alexandria private school is one of 349 schools nationwide to win a Blue Ribbon School award from the U.S. Department of Education this year, the district announced. Blessed Sacrament School was one of eight Virginia schools to receive the honor.
Now in its 36th year, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has highlighted more than 8,800 educational institutions that have test scores in the top 15 percent in their state and no major gaps among students from different demographics.
Blessed Sacrament opened in 1949. It closed for some time and became a early childhood center before reopening in 1985. This was the second time in a decade Blessed Sacrament was named a Blue Ribbon School, the school said in a news release.
