Little Lady Layla Is Alexandria's Adoptable Pet Of The Week

She's a four-year-old, 12-pound princess.

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Are you looking for the David Bowie of doggies? The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria has a superstar for you to meet.

Four-year-old Layla is looking for a loving home, the AWLA writes. But this little lady doesn't want just any Johnny-come-lately. Layla can be timid, "but if you take your time with her, she will warm up before you know it. A little patience and a gentle voice will go a long way!"

This princess has her own timeline, but "[i]f Layla gets the chance to feel safe in her new environment, she will be in your lap before you know it," and looking at you with her beautiful, heterochromatic eyes. "Layla's future family will find that she is quite the cuddle bug once she warms up," the shelter writes.

Twelve-pound Layla would do best in an adult-only home where she can be the only dog, the AWLA thinks. "If you are a loving person looking for a pint-sized companion, Layla just might be the one for you! Contact the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria to meet Layla today."

To visit Layla or any of the other animals waiting for their homes, contact the AWLA shelter or visit them at 4101 Eisenhower Avenue during adoption hours, from noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, or noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
