Alexandria St. Patrick's Day Parade 2018: Watch Live

If you can't make it to the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Alexandria, we've got you covered with a live stream.

The Alexandria St. Patrick's Day Parade is happening at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 18. The parade starts at King Street and St. Asaph Street, continues on North Lee Street and finishes on Cameron Street at Royal Street.

Bernadette and Pat Troy, who founded the parade in 1982 and own the Irish Walk boutique on King Street, are serving as grand marshals this year. Pat Troy immigrated to the U.S. in the 1960s from Ireland. He and his wife Bernadette opened Irish Walk in 1980 and started the parade two years later. Since then, the volunteer group Ballyshaners have organized the parade.

Beforehand, the Ballyshaners and Animal Welfare League of Alexandria will host the Fun Dog Show from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Market Square. The contest awards "Pet Troy Award" trophies for a number of categories: Dog – Owner Look Alike, St. Patrick's Spirit Award, Best Costume and Most Talented.

Alexandria Police expect heavy pedestrian traffic for the parade. King Street will be closed from Washington to Lee Streets from 9 a.m.-3:45 p.m. Expect detours and other traffic impacts between Prince and Princess Streets east of Washington Street.

The Ballyshaners set March 18 as the new date for the parade after the windstorm forced its cancellation on March 3.
