Alexandria Stabbing Suspect Arrested After Multiple Tips From Public: Police

ALEXANDRIA, VA – A 21-year-old Alexandria man has been arrested following a stabbing that left another man in critical condition, city police say.

The Alexandria Police Department announced that Jelzon Garcia Gonzales, 21, was found on the 7000 block of Columbia Pike in Annandale and arrested in connection with a stabbing attack in the early hours of Tuesday.

Police had shared a still image of a suspect in that stabbing and now say Gonzales is that suspect.

Gonzales is charged with one count of aggravated malicious wounding and is currently being held without bond at the Alexandria Adult Detention Center.

According to APD, a man sleeping near the parking lot of the Tiger Market at 3903 Mount Vernon Avenue was stabbed multiple times by another man, who fled the scene. They say the victim is in critical condition.

Police credit multiple tips from the public with aiding in the arrest. In a statement, APD Chief Tarrick McGuire said, “This case demonstrates what is possible when our community and our detectives work together.”
