This past summer, Segway® Inc. teamed up with the Smithsonian® Institution to launch Smithsonian Tours by Segway. The tour has been popular with tourists, but even more so with area residents.
Did you know that this past summer, Segway® Inc. teamed up with the Smithsonian® Institution to launch Smithsonian Tours by Segway? The tour has been popular with tourists, but even more so with area residents.
"Smithsonian Tours by Segway provides a unique and fun way for people to experience the National Mall and learn more about DC’s rich history,” commented Carol LeBlanc, Vice President of Smithsonian Enterprises. “We’re pleased to have added this tour to the amazing breadth of fascinating experiences that the Smithsonian offers – and we’re thrilled that it has been embraced by local communities.”
This tour is the only Segway PT Tour to depart from the National Mall (at the National Museum of American History). The route covers more than 5 miles and you’ll to explore over 1,000 acres of the National Mall, including Monuments and Memorials. Gliders will learn more about the history and fun facts behind the country’s national treasures and enjoy stories that only the Smithsonian could tell!

Just some of what you’ll see:
During the tour, riders will glide by and explore Smithsonian museums and gardens including the National Museum of American History, National Museum of Natural History, National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Castle, Arts and Industries Building, National Museum of the American Indian, National Museum of African Art, Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, Enid A. Haupt Garden, Freer Gallery of Art, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden and Mary Ripley Garden.
