Donate Toys to The Center for Alexandria's Children
A great local nonprofit, The Center for Alexandria's Children, needs your help to collect 50 toys for the children who attend their successful developmental playgroups.
This week, ACTion Alexandria is helping the Center for Alexandria's Children collect 50 toys for their playgroups that provide critical developmental support to young children and parents in Alexandria.
Research has shown that brain development in the first 3 years is critical to life-long academic outcomes and that a language and literacy rich environment is essential during these years.
By providing a social environment with developmentally appropriate activities, the CAC developmental playgroups help address the gap in development of young children for some of the most vulnerable and underserved families in Alexandria.

You can help! The CAC needs 50 toys to properly equip their developmental playgroups.
Take the case of Erin* and her 2 year old son Matthew*. After attending a CAC playgroup for 6 months, Erin worried about Matthew being behind developmentally. She was particularly concerned that he wasn't talking as much as he should be. After confiding in playgroup leader Kelly*, Erin learned about available resources and got Matthew the speech therapy he needed.

Thanks to the support and relationships developed in their playgroup, Matthew is getting the help he needs to succeed before entering kindergarten and his mother Erin has become a powerful advocate for her child.
This week, you can help children like Matthew bridge developmental gaps and improve their chances for future success by donating developmentally focused toys to the Center for Alexandria's Children playgroups.
